BBQ, Palm Beach-Style

I freely admit I'm a barbeque junkie.

Having spent the greater part of my life in Texas, it's just becomes part of your DNA.

Back home when I needed a barbeque fix, it usually meant a trip to Cousin's, or Angelo's or Sonny Bryan's in Big D.

But here in the Palm Beaches, finding a favorite barbeque hangout is a little more challenging. That's why I got all excited reading how June is "BBQ Month" at the Palm Beach Ritz-Carleton.

I'm sorry, but the Ritz is maybe the last place I would think about when it comes to barbeque.

Anyway, I had to find out more, so Pam and I made the trek down Ocean Blvd. to Temple Orange, the eatery at the Ritz featuring a different barbeque meal special each week in June.

And I have to be honest -- I wasn't disappointed. My barbeque bento consisted of baby back ribs, sweet potato fries, apple-celery slaw and peach cobbler. You can see it in the picture above.

Almost as good as what I got in Texas, except the view of the Atlantic does beat the street scenes in Cowtown.

All the Ritz needs to do is add a mechanical bull and they could give Billy Bob's a run for the money.

  1. Not being a fan of bbq, there is something at this place for everyone. My bento, included a snapper sandwich that melted in your mouth and was seasoned to perfection.
